The Best Care Pharmacy has been gearing up for its winter rush as the season sends sick customers their way.
Currently the pharmacy is offering flu shots and vaccinations to help prevent any illnesses this winter, said Alexander Lewis, pharmacist in charge.
“We are offering pneumonia and shingles vaccinations and for those traveling abroad this holiday season, we are able to help you with those vaccinations as you prepare for your trip,” he said.
“During the holidays, our volume steadily increases because the seasons are changing and people are traveling more than usual,” he added. “We want to maintain and control symptoms and get individuals in our community back to good health.”
Lewis said that at Best Care Pharmacy they like to maintain a focus on being part of the community and giving back to locals who support them.
Throughout the year, Lewis said he likes to teach students in the county about poison prevention and medication safety.
“I want to teach students about the different medications so that they understand that some look similar to products that they see every day,” he said. “For instance Skittles and certain prescription medications look similar, as well as fruit gums and children’s gummy vitamins.”
Lewis said he wants to ensure that students know the difference and to be cautious to avoid danger.
Lewis said he knows that many won’t go to a pharmacy because they believe it is a hassle.
“This isn’t the case at Best Care Pharmacy,” he said. “We just ask that you call us and let us know where you have your medications normally sent, have your personal and insurance information available to us and we will do the rest.”
During regular business hours at a chain pharmacy, Lewis said it can take one to two hours for your prescription to be filled and possibly longer during the holiday and winter season.
At Best Care Pharmacy, customers are able to receive competitive pricing and their prescription in a timely manner.
“I can have customers in and out in less than 10 to 15 minutes,” he said. “We really take pride in how well we assist those who choose to use us for their pharmacy needs.”
An advantage of being a customer at Best Care Pharmacy is the ability to utilize their delivery and drive-thru services.
“We deliver to anywhere in Bridgeport, as well as Clarksburg and the greater Shinnston and Lumberport area,” he said. “Through our drive-thru, customers can receive over-the-counter medications in addition to prescriptions.”
Pharmacy technician Chasta O’Conner said one of the most unique things about the pharmacy is that they maintain relationships with their customers.
“They feel comfortable coming to us with questions and they are satisfied with the services that we provide to them,” she said. “That’s why they keep coming back and using our pharmacy.”
With most of the pharmacy’s customers being from the local or surrounding areas, O’Conner said that many take advantage of the delivery service.
“Not only are they supporting a local business, but they are supporting local families,” she said. “We’re happy to provide the delivery service to individuals that can’t make it out to pick up their prescriptions.”
In addition to deliveries of medication, Best Care Pharmacy also takes requests for special orders whether it is medical equipment or over-the-counter products.
“We have been successful in special ordering specific brands for our customers to keep them happy,” Lewis said.
“We are always encouraging people to ask us for specific products or help understanding medications or illnesses,” he said. “We want to accommodate our customers the best we can.”
