BELINGTON, W.Va., (WV News) — Mrs. Linda Carole (Pharis) Cox, age 78, a resident of Lost Creek, WV, departed this life Monday morning April 1, 2024, in the United Hospital Center at Bridgeport, WV. Death was following an extended illness.
She was born March 14, 1946, at Junior, WV, a daughter of the late James William “Bill” and Janis Thelma (Wiseman) Pharis.
On February 5, 1965, at Elkins, WV, she was united in marriage to Gene Edward Cox, who preceded her in death on December 7, 2014.
Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Kris Evans, and husband Carl of Good Hope, WV; two grandchildren, Shane Evans and wife Heather of Good Hope and Brandon Evans and fiancée Stephanie Kerns, also of Good Hope; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Bryson, Madison, Lincoln, Reagan, and Kennedy Lynn; two brothers, James W. “Butch” Pharis and wife Nancy of Junior, and Michael A. Pharis, also of Junior; two sisters, Janet L. Baisi and husband Rick of Kenova, WV, and Gloria J. Pudder of Junior. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth “Ken” Cox, and one sister, Karen S. Snyder.
Mrs. Cox attended the schools of Barbour County, where she obtained her GED. Following that, she attended the Salem College, where she obtained her associate degree in Realty Management. She was a Realtor for twenty-two years, lastly working for Apex Real Estate in Bridgeport, from which she retired. During her time at Apex, she served as the president of the Harrison County Board of Realtors for two years.
She was also a member of the Good Hope Extension Homemakers. Linda was a Jehovah Witness by faith. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she also loved to travel with her late husband to NASCAR races and bluegrass festivals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56. N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, on April 6, 2024, from 2-3 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Tallman officiating. Interment of her cremains will then follow in the Trinity Cemetery near Belington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
