NUTTER FORT, W.Va. (WV News) — John William “Bill” Stanton, Jr., 81, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Clarksburg on January 15, 1943, a son of the late John W. and Betty Jean Louchery Stanton.
Bill recently celebrated his 50th anniversary with his wife, Kristine E. “Kris” Fansler Stanton, who resides at their home in Clarksburg.
Also surviving are his son, John William “Billy” Stanton, III, and his wife Tracie of Mesa, AZ; two grandchildren, Heather Lee Stanton and Brittnie Ann Stanton, both of AZ; and his faithful companion, Bowie. He also leaves behind his sister, Sharon Ann Miller, and her husband Dave of Bridgeport; sister-in-law, Anne Coffman, and her husband John of Vienna, WV; and brother-in-law, John Fansler, and his wife Brenda of Vienna, WV, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a graduate of Washington Irving High School, Class of 1960, and was in sales with Norandex. He also previously worked for Harry Green, Lowe’s, Jamestown Apartments and Hidden Valley Apartments. Bill was an active member of Sunny Croft Golf Club, where he enjoyed playing golf for over 50 years and served on the board. Bill enjoyed cooking, loved chocolate and Italian food, was an animal lover, and treasured his loyal friends.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., where the service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Burge presiding. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431 or the to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037.
