Jennifer Mary Tumbry King

Jennifer was born on May 3, 1945, in Charleroi, PA, a daughter of the late Millie Catherine Bruno Tumbry.

She is survived by her two children, Marie Elizabeth King and her partner Dr. David Dawley of Morgantown, and Michael Eugene King of Los Angeles, CA; her granddaughter, Melissa Marie Wells, and her partner Michael Greathouse Jr. of Morgantown; two siblings, Sandra Tumbry Harris of Clarksburg and Alex Tumbry Jr. of Clarksburg; sister-in-law, Susan King of Clarksburg; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. King came from nothing, and through determination and constant hard work made a beautiful life for herself and her family. She was a graduate of Victory High School, Class of 1963. She spent most of her career in management for telecommunications such as C&P Telephone, currently known as Frontier, from the ages of 18 to 40.

She was proud of her time as a manager and took her role seriously. She later retired from the FBI, where she had worked for 10 years. She was active in the Telephone Workers union and was a member of the Clarksburg League for Service as ways to better her community and give back to those in need.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she served as eucharist minister. She enjoyed being a career woman and the breadwinner of her family. She will be remembered for her ambition. Jennifer cherished her role as the family matriarch, and in addition to being a loving wife, was a proud mother to her children and a doting grandmother and best friend to her granddaughter.

While she was stoic and strong in nature, she was equally soft and nurturing. She raised a family that knew the importance of saying “I love you,” to which she would respond, “I love you more.” Despite her difficult childhood, she chose to lead her life with love as her guide and was not afraid to work for what she needed and wanted. She especially enjoyed expressing her love through cooking and would prepare big meals for family and friends. She was the salt of the earth and will be sadly missed.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where Catholic Funeral Rites will be accorded at 1 p.m. with Father Kumar Reddismasu presiding. In keeping with her wishes, Jennifer will be cremated following the service.
