JANE LEW, W.Va., (WV News) — Donna Jo Moneypenny, 77, of Weston, slipped gently into the arms of the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
Born in Weston on September 2, 1946, Donna was a daughter of the late Dallas Samuel Meyers and Mable Marie Buchanan Meyers.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Goff Moneypenny.
Donna was a cherished member of her community and a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston. As the Scripture says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13). Donna lived this verse every day of her life, exhibiting her love for her family, her friends, and her faith.
Donna graduated from Lewis County High School in 1964, furthered her education at Morgantown Beauty College, and was a beautician in Weston. She later retired from Weston Kroger as a florist, merging her professional skills with her personal passion of raising her flower gardens.
Donna was a woman of many talents, but what mattered most to her was her family. She especially cherished visiting her sister and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She also loved cooking and enjoyed trips to the beach.
Forever cherishing their memories of Donna are one daughter, Teresa “Donell” Henthorne of Weston; one stepdaughter, Diana Linn Vincent, and husband, Timothy, of Buckhannon; fiancé, Roger Foster of Horner; two daughters-of-the-heart: Arria Hines, and husband, Michael, of Horner, and Cathy Cayton, and husband, Bob, of Morgantown; two stepgrandchildren: Casey Rollenson, and husband, Carlos, and Holly Currence, and husband, Brent; four grandchildren-of-the-heart: Chase Kempinski and wife, Mizuki, Danica Kempinski and companion, Adam Wilberger, Abia Whiston and wife, Courtnie, and Owen Cayton; three stepgreat-grandchildren: Kendal, Chantz, and Kolton; four great-grandchildren-of-the-heart: Merritt, Hayes, Harlow, and Ruka; two siblings: John Meyers, and wife, Clara, of Weston, and Barbara Camp of Clearmont, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Her memory will be held dear in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from noon-2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Peterson Cemetery in Weston.
We, at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Donna Jo Moneypenny.
