Carl Hull

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. On April 13, 1946, he married Betty Lee Blosser, who preceded him in death on May 16, 2011. Also preceding him in death was one son, Roger Lee Hull. In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Ralph, Orville, Earl, Jim, Virgil, and Charles; one sister, Pearl; sisters-in-law: Mary, Willa, Deloris, and Mary Reta.

He is survived by two daughters: Sheila Kay Ward and husband, Roger, and Patricia Lynn Stone and husband, Gary, all of Buckhannon; four grandchildren: Roger Hull, Jr and wife, Tina, of FL, Julia Kruk of VA, Tara Smith and husband, Randy, of TN, and Brenton Stone and wife, Gretchen, of VA; five great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Meghan, Maisy and Madelyn of FL, and Elizabeth of VA.

Carl enlisted in the United States Army in April in 1942 as a PFC Lineman, Telephone and Telegraph. He served in the Pacific for 26 months with the 82nd Signal Battalion, installing, repairing, and maintaining military telephone and telegraph systems with an Honorable Discharge in December 1945.

His decorations included: American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Service Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

Carl then worked for Penn Line Service for several years before spending time as an electrician at Bethlehem Mines for eight years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden and orchard. Carl shared his fruits and vegetables with all the neighbors. In later years, he enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles with his family and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 11-1 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rodney Heckert officiating. Interment will follow at Pickens Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
