CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Janice L. (Sparacino) Brunett, 83, of Clarksburg, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Orlando, Florida.
She was born February 8, 1941, in Greenville, MS, the daughter of the late Dominic and Lucille Radejefski Sparacino.
Janice graduated from St. Mary’s of the Pines Academy, Chatawa, MS, where she received many scholastic honors and was the salutatorian of the Class of 1958. She completed her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Clarksburg prior to meeting and marrying her husband Sam. She was the Owner and President of Tomaro’s Bakery in Clarksburg for 30 years following the death of her husband Sam in 1992. Janice was a well-known Central WV businesswoman and was featured in many national magazines and newspapers.
Janice was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksburg, and she was a member of the parish nurse ministry and volunteered in many other areas. Janice was also an active member of the Progressive Woman’s Association (PWA).
Janice is survived by her children, Marisa Brunett of Winter Springs, FL; son, John Brunett, and wife Kristin of Bridgeport; granddaughters, Sophie Brunett and Alexa Brunett, whom she cherished and loved dearly; two grand dogs, Izzy and Niko, who brought her much joy and comfort when she visited FL; one sister, Iris Sparacino; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Brunett) Spagnuolo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Brunett; one sister, Merelyn Demus; and her mother-in-law, Annie Tomaro Brunett, whom she worked side by side with in the bakery for many years with her husband.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with Rosary Prayers at 3:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. with Father Casey Mahone as Celebrant.
