Montes connected for a two-run shot in the third inning, before adding a grand slam in the fifth. He also had a run-scoring single in the ninth, when the Renegades (5-4) scored three times to put the game out of reach.
The Black Bears (4-5) trailed throughout after allowing separate runs in the first and second innings.

They got as close as 8-5 after Ty Moore tripled to score Kevin Kramer and Hill’s groundout scored Moore, but Hudson Valley added three insurance runs in the ninth.
Jonathan Brubaker was tagged with the loss. He allowed four runs on six hits in four innings.
