Kim Pauley, Charleston Ballet artistic director, said the show will allow the audience to explore a ballet dancer’s training and have discussions with directors, choreographers, guest artists and dancers. The program showcases a ballet’s journey from classroom to performance.
A new ballet, “On the Appalachian Trail,” with musical composition by Grant Cooper of the Charleston Symphony, and “Janis and Joe Suite,” with choreography by Christopher Fleming of BalletFleming in Philadelphia, will be presented during the program.
“Sometimes, going to the ballet, people are apprehensive because they don’t understand what it is, and we wanted to dispel fears people have,” Pauley said.
