CLARKSBURG — Virginia R. Barrett, of Lost Creek, passed peacefully on May 27, 2013, in her 79th year.
She was born October 17, 1933, in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Curtis E. Hickman and Edith Bates Hickman.
She is survived by her companion of 35 years, Arthur Burkhammer; five children, Charles Hickman (Lillian) of West Milford, Ronald Welch (Brenda) of Lost Creek, Celestine Merkel of Clarksburg, Ruth Ann Ledsome of Clarksburg and Virgil Barrett of West Milford; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; special great-grandchild, Erisson Lee Welch; two stepsons, Roger Harper (Chandra) of Lost Creek and Mike Harper of Lost Creek; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ramsey; a brother, Donald “Jeep” Hickman; a sister, Phyllis Cyphers; and a grandson, Ronald Lee Welch II.
Virginia loved to work puzzles and read. She had a kind heart and never knew a stranger and would not hesitate to help someone with a meal or a place to sleep.
Friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kingsley Whitsett. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.
