SALEM —Virginia Lee Richards Burton, 70 of WV Rt. 23 N. (Cascara Community) departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at her residence.
She was born on June 11, 1944, a daughter of the late William Elmer and Cleora V. Smith Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Ross Burton Sr., on September 25, 2012.
Surviving are one daughter, Teresa Bowman, Salem; two stepdaughters, Martha Ann Lawson and husband David, Weirton, Karen Sue Stouffle, Arizona; one step- son, Leo Ross Burton Jr. and wife Jackie, Charlotte, North Carolina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Nicholson and husband Orren, Salem; three brothers, Ezra G. Richards and wife Artice, Salem, William Delmer Richards and wife Karen, Nashville, Tennessee, Henry L. Richards and wife Mary Ann, West Union.
One infant brother preceded her in death.
Mrs. Richards was a graduate of Doddridge County High School. She retired from Dominion-Hope Gas Company with 30 years service. Virginia was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW at large. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver, Kimberly Apodaca.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Cascara United Methodist Church, Rt. 23 North on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Elbert officiating. Mrs. Burton will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St. Salem on Monday, March 23, 2015, from 4-8 p.m.
