BECKLEY — Viola Sheets, age 82, of Beckley, WV, died January 28, 2014.
She was born on July 28, 1931, in Montebello, VA. She were the daughter of the late B.H. Campbell and Nellie Layton Campbell.
Viola attended schools in Bramwell, WV, and retired from G.C. Murphy Co. with 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ray Sheets. They were residents of Stephenson, WV, for more than 50 years until his death in 2008.
Also preceding her in death was her son-in-law, Alan Holliday; brothers and spouses, Hunter and Edna Campbell and Ralph and Betty Campbell; sisters and spouses, Louise Franklin, Frances and Clarence Whittaker, Jane and Frank Fernandez and many of her Sheets family.
Viola is survived by her daughters, Brenda Sheets Benedum and husband Jim Benedum of Bridgeport, WV, and Kathy Holliday of Beckley, WV, with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jaimie Benedum-Scott and Walter, Alan J. Holliday II and Jill, Courtney Benedum, Michael Holliday and Cristal, and Kelsey Benedum. Also her great-grandsons, Tyler Holliday, Walt Scott IV, Grayson Holliday, Myles Ray Scott and Landan and Dylan. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Bailey and husband Paul Bailey, sisters-in-law, Ruby Suits and Roy and Hazel Hollars, as well as numerous nephews, and nieces.
Mother’s legacy will be her unwavering faith in God and her unconditional love for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Tommy Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton, WV. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the funeral home.
