WESTON — John Troxell Law, 92, of Camden, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Weston on April 26, 1923, son of Dr. John W.O. Law and Mildred (Troxell) Law.
John was married to Bernadette (Hines) Law on May 22, 1950, by Monsignor McKernan at Saint Patrick Church of Weston, WV.
John is survived by two sons, John Edward Law and Melinda of Camden and Thomas Francis Law and Nancy of Jane Lew; three grandchildren, Elizabeth LaNell Law of London, England, Sarah Bernadette Law of Weston and Thomas Nathaniel Law of Jane Lew; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Sutter.
John was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Weston where his mother played the organ for 50 plus years and his grandparents, LeAnder and Polly Troxell were on the board that built the present day church. He was also a member of the WV Public Accountants Association, National Society of Public Accountants, American Legion Post 4 (60-plus years), American Rifle Association, Lewis County Farm Bureau, WV American Farm Bureau, Weston Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, American Packard Club, WV Packard Club, American Antique Auto Association, Lewis County Livestock Association, Emeritus Club of Wesleyan, First Families of Virginia and the Hackers Creek Pioneer Descendants.
While in the Navy, John sang with Clyde McCoy in the Blue Jacket Choir and flew sub patrol from Virginia to Panama as a gunner. After being Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy, John attended Wesleyan College graduating in 1949 with a degree in accounting. In 1961, he started his own accounting firm which still exists today under the direction of his son, John E. Law, CPA. Those who knew John knew how much he enjoyed the piano and playing the organ. He knew almost all songs of the 40, 50 and 60s. John loved history especially the Civil War. He most importantly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed farming his Leading Valley Farm together with his wife.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue, Weston, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, from 3-8 p.m. A Christian Burial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Reverend John Valentine officiating. Interment will follow services in Machpelah Cemetery of Weston with full military honors accorded by the Lewis County Honor Guards and the United States Navy Honor Guards.
