SHINNSTON — Harold Shingleton Jr., “June,” 92, of Connellsville, PA, formerly of Munhall, PA, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at home.
He was born on October 30, 1922, at Lost Creek, WV, the son of the late Harold D. and Cleo Cunningham Shingleton.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta F. Shilley and husband Terry of Huntington, WV, and daughter, Gwendolyn J. Weimer and husband Gregory of Connellsville, PA. He had several grandchildren: Stephanie Weimer of Camp Hill, PA, Jessica and Ashleigh Weimer of Philadelphia, PA, Ryan Shilley of Pittsburgh, PA, Lindsey Weimer of Wilmington, NC, Whitney Weimer Grabowski and husband Evan of Indiana, PA, and Christina Shilley of Huntington, WV. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Shingleton of Shinnston, WV, and a sister, Gwendolyn Shingleton Gross of Meadowbrook, WV.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah M. Rowand Shingleton; brothers, Frederick and William of Shinnston, WV; brother, Donald of Uniontown, OH; and a sister, Harris Ann Shingleton of Shinnston, WV.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army, and was employed by the United States Steel Corp., Homestead, PA, until his retirement.
Harold was a man of God who honored the Lord daily by the life he lived and encouraged others to live likewise. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and for his kindness, generosity and compassion for others. He was an active and faithful member of the Connellsville Area Church of Christ. He leaves behind a legacy that was paramount to him to serve God, his family, the church and others with the hope of inheriting eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior.
He will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014, and the funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Perine Funeral Home, Shinnston, WV. The graveside service and interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
