CLARKSBURG — Gary I. “Butch” Saunders, age 68, of Bridgeport, WV (Brushy Fork), passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at his home.
He was born on April 3, 1947, in Clarksburg, a son of the late William A. and Beatrice Triplett Saunders.
Gary is survived by his three children, son, Gary I. “Ivan” Saunders II and fiancée Connie Keener of Lost Creek, son, Eric Scott Saunders and wife Patty Mullenax-Saunders of Bridgeport, daughter, Allison Michele Rowe and husband Brian of Lost Creek; brother, Robert A. Saunders and wife Marg of Nutter Fort; sister, Phyllis Torjak and husband Edward of Summit Park; and five grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Paige Smith, Hunter Saunders, Taylor Smith and Halee Rowe. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Martha K. Saunders, on February 23, 2010, and his siblings: Emma Jean Hamrick, twin brother, Larry Saunders, Lynda Flannigan, Gail Cogar, William Saunders Jr. and Margurette Saunders.
Butch was an electrician with Union Carbide retiring after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their various functions. This time of year, he especially enjoyed going to ramp dinners.
The family will receive friends at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main Street, Clarksburg, WV, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Sears presiding. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
