CLARKSBURG — Frederick Donald “Fred” Swiger Sr., age 70, of Clarksburg, WV, departed this life on Friday, July 26, 2013, in Clarksburg.
He was born in Wallace, WV, on May 11, 1943, a son of the late William Carl Swiger and Cloris Mae Swiger.
Surviving are his former wife, Minnie (Bragg) Swiger of Cortland, OH; six sons, James Carl Swiger, Katy, TX, Randy Lee Swiger, Champion, OH, Kevin Michael Swiger, Cortland, OH, Edward Dale Swiger, Warren, OH, Robert Eugene Swiger, Green, OH and Charles David Swiger, Orient, OH; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Swiger, Warren, OH; two brothers, Frank Swiger, Wallace, WV, and Bernard Wayne Swiger, Clarksburg, WV; and nineteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Donald Swiger Jr., and three brothers, Ray Swiger, Floyd Swiger and Ralph Swiger.
Fred was very well known as a newspaper carrier for over 30 years and had also previously worked at Notre Dame.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, with the Rev. James Dittmar presiding. Interment will be in the Lumberport Lions Cemetery.
