PENNSBORO — Dale William Masters, age 88, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Parkersburg, WV.
He was born May 22, 1927, in Pennsboro, WV, the son of the late Oliver and Coosie Anna Pyles Masters.
Dale was a lifelong glass worker. He started working when he was 16 years old. For 40, years he worked mostly for the Pennsboro Glass Co. and later retired from the Mid-Atlantic Glass Co., Ellenboro, WV.
Dale was the owner and operator of Dale’s Archery Supply, Pennsboro, WV, in the 1960s. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Marines Corps. He was a former member of the Harris-Ritchie VFW Post 3554 and the River City Runners Club, Parkersburg, WV. Dale was an avid hunter and runner and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Dale enjoyed his children and grandchildren, but had a love for all children.
Dale is survived by a son, James Lyle Masters, Pennsboro, WV; daughters, Janet Lorraine Goff (Jayson) Castalian Springs, TN, Julia Ann Masters, Pennsboro, WV, and Lisa Marie Taylor (Tim), Villa Rica, GA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Dorean Masters; infant son, George Leroy Masters; sister, Katherine Rollins; and brother, Charles Masters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016, from the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, at 1 p.m., with the Pastor Mike Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Harrisville, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, February 14, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on the day of the service.
