BRIDGEPORT — Jenny Murray, a local agent with the West Virginia University Extension Service, received the Achievement in Service Award from the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents for her outstanding contributions to 4-H.
She received the award at the 2013 Galaxy IV Conference held recently in Pittsburgh.
An educator with the Taylor County WVU Extension Office, Murray has served as a WVU extension agent since February 2008. She serves as the adviser to the Taylor County 4-H program, which includes the Leaders Association, seven community 4-H clubs and two specialty 4-H programs.
She also coaches the Taylor County 4-H Robotics team and is county contact for the Energy Express program. She spends countless hours planning county 4-H activities like the annual 4-H camp.
Murray is also the adviser to Taylor County’s Community Educational Outreach Service clubs.
And she serves as president of the Planned Approach To Community Health Coalition of Taylor County, helping with grants and coalition programs.
Murray recently was added to the Taylor County Fair Board in preparation for the fair’s return in 2014.
She has served as co-director for the W.Va. State Teen Leader Weekend for two years and is a member of the state’s 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) team. She has served as an assistant superintendent for the youth goat show at the State Fair and helps with the West Virginia Beef Expo and West Virginia Livestock Roundup.
Murray serves as the Extension Service representative with the WV 4-H All Star Organization. She is also the current treasurer of the West Virginia Association of Extension 4-H Agents.
Nationally, Murray serves as co-chair-elect for the Communication and Expressive Arts Task Force for NAE4-HA.
Murray is among the community-based agents who work on local issues with families, businesses and organizations through WVU Extension offices in each county.
