CLARKSBURG — A 15-year-old male was struck by a sedan while crossing an intersection on his bicycle along West Pike Street, Clarksburg Police Patrolman W.G. Swiger said.
Lt. George Hayhurst with the Clarksburg Fire Department said the juvenile was taken to United Hospital Center by Harrison County EMS after he was struck while crossing West Pike Street from Chestnut Street just after 7 p.m.
Swiger said that by 9:45 p.m., the hospital was preparing him for transport to Ruby Memorial Hospital. He said the teen had non-life threatening injuries.
“He has some nasal fractures and some large facial lacerations, but aside from that, he’s going to be sore,” Swiger said.
Swiger said it was apparent that the vehicle had a green light, and the boy did not look for oncoming traffic before crossing the intersection. No one has been charged in the incident, which is still under investigation, he added.
