FAIRMONT — Fairmont’s Amy Frosch has been named to the 2016-17 Souper Bowl of Caring National Youth Advisory Board. Frosch is one of 15 students from 13 states chosen to serve as a member of the board.
In September and November, Frosch attended the organization’s national youth training conferences in Houston. Frosch will spend January and February serving as an advocate for the organization and jumpstarting movements in the greater Fairmont community.
The Souper Bowl of Caring’s National Youth Advisory Board is a program comprised of 15 student leaders from around the country selected through a competitive application process. The National Youth Advisory Board gives young volunteers an opportunity to take a larger leadership role in the organization, which encourages youth to collect donations through schools, places of worship and businesses and donate 100 percent of the collection to a local charity of their choice.
“Souper Bowl of Caring to me means that I can help people in my community and I’m able to make a difference, even though I’m a teenager in a small town,” Frosch said. “I’m excited for the Soup Cook Off I’m leading at my church, Immaculate Conception in Fairmont, because I want to see my fellow parishioners step up to donate, but also have fun.”
In addition to coordinating Souper Bowl of Caring drives, members are expected to serve as a youth spokesperson for the organization with local and national media, connect with other youth leaders interested in making a difference, grow the organization’s effort in their community and offer feedback and guidance to the Souper Bowl of Caring staff.
Frosch is the daughter of Ken and Julie Frosch of Fairmont. She attends Notre Dame High School and became involved with Souper Bowl of Caring through her church.
In 2016, 6,800 organizations collected over $10.4 million in cash and food items that benefitted the local organizations.
