Sequester looms large over federal public defender program

CLARKSBURG — Federal Public Defender Brian Kornbrath is at ease representing criminal defendants in a courtroom, showing moxie, a cool demeanor and a sound knowledge of the law.

But for much of this year, Kornbrath has been in a different arena. He’s been juggling numbers as he stares down the unpalatable task of preparing for a budget cut that could range from 14 to 23 percent.
