CLARKSBURG — A 37-year-old Clarksburg man was sentenced to 1-5 years in prison Monday for felony unlawful assault.
The sentence for George Rolland McMullen Jr. was imposed by Harrison Chief Judge Thomas A. Bedell, according to Harrison Assistant Prosecutor Andrea Roberts.
McMullen had missed a bond hearing in March and had been a fugitive until his jailing earlier this month.
McMullen had pleaded guilty in February, saying he and another man “was just drinkin’ beer,” and “I was pretty messed up,” when “things got out of control, we got into a fight, and I guess I cut him.”
The investigation led by Clarksburg Police Detective Paul Graeber had asserted that McMullen used a box cutter to slit the other man under the left side of his chin, leaving a cut about 2 inches long.
