JARVISVILLE — No charges have been filed in a case in which an 11-year-old Jarvisville boy was accidentally fatally shot by his grandmother while he slept at home at 11:38 p.m. Sunday, Harrison Sheriff Albert Marano said.
William Owens died of a gunshot wound to the chest area, Marano said.
The grandmother, Tina Owens, 57, of Jarvisville, heard noises outside the residence and she and her son believed someone was tampering with the automobiles or property, he said.
“Multiple shots were fired in an effort to scare what she believed were intruders away from outside their home,” Marano said. “The son’s home was located below it. There was some foliage between the two homes. It (a bullet) went through a wall of the mobile home, which is located about 200 yards away.”
